Profile

Mark Paal is a Physics tutor in the science department of the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education. He holds an MPhil in Solid State Physics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the same university. Mr. Paal is currently pursuing his PhD in Mathematical and Computational Physics at KNUST (he was an exchange student at university of L’Aquila from December 2023 to November 2024). His research interest includes Monte Carlo Simulations of Physical processes, ab initio techniques in material modeling and synthesis, machine learning for high throughput computational screening, the study of porous materials (Zeolites, MOFs, COFs, etc.) for water purification and synthesis and characterization of semiconducting thin films for device applications.

With more than 6 years of experience as a physics educator from Senior high school to Tertiary education. Teaching courses such as General Physics Theory, Introductory Atomic Physics, heat and optics, Electricity and Magnetism, Classical mechanics, Special Theory of Relativity, and Solid State Physics. Other Professional experiences include team leader for Physics 2 at the West African Examination Council.

Mr. Paal is a lifelong learner with a passion for teaching physics and the use of computational techniques in tackling problems in society. He has mentored several science students in at KNUST, Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, and in the University of Cape Coast’s Bachelor of Education Sandwich Program.
